Up until recently, I wasn’t doing a very good job measuring readership. If you were a subscriber, you got an email of each post and could read the whole thing without it registering as a page view or a visitor. Dozens of people would tell me “I read your blog all the time” – but I wasn’t capturing it.
So now you get an email and a few lines, and then a “click here to read more.” Um, y’all weren’t lying – there’s a whole hell of a lot of clicking going on. And in addition, the audience is clearly growing.
Before the past week, the best weekly page views I’d had was 2,633. More typical was around 2,000, sometimes a little more, sometimes less. This week, even with a holiday, saw 3,441 page views, a 30.7% increase over the prior peak. The highest number of unique visitors in a week had been 737. Typically it was between 600-700. Last week, it was 1,035, a 40.4% jump.
Bottom line – more and more of you are reading, I’m getting a more accurate picture of how many of you there are and what gets your attention, and there’s a lot of fun being had by all concerned.
Kind of really cool, in my opinion.
